This tendency is stereotyping the women and giving wrong message to society. Some times these advertisements spark violence against. Whereas, in most of the advertisements, men are shown to be prudent in their features and indirectly promoting patriarchy. We need reforms in the advertisement sector to the advertisement more of promoting gender equality.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Advertisements of modern days need reforms. They must place the men and women on equal platform and they must carry some constructive message to the rest of the society rather than provoking violence against women through stereotyping women and men.

    ReplyDelete
  10. With the passage of time, the stereotyping has decreased. This shows the positive change in the mindset of people. Still a lot needs to be done

  15. Women, in the old times, were used in advertisements to portray delicacy and tenderness. Today, women are not just a symbol of delicacy and tenderness; they portray sensuous as well as strong roles on the television. Women are also used to increase glamour in the advertisements. ReplyDelete
  21. Time is changing. World is changing. Some people are adapting with it while others still hold their orthodox thinking. Some companies are focusing on gender equality and making an effort for it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is a fact that advertisements of cosmetics and kitchen utensils are featured with female and things like beverages and commanding role are featured by male charecters. But there is a major change in advertisements too. As women takes up new roles in society, advertising agencies also are reflecting tose social reforms

  28. Advertise ment related with four vehicles or any adventrous men only project.Home appliances and textiles the both the sex are projected now a days.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Now today time has changed .Now women are above par with men in print and non print media.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The videos show some biological n social differences but education as a weapon can break all barriers

    ReplyDelete
  32. Today women are more powerful than men in all aspects.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Most of the adds related to fashion ,beauty and cosmetics are done by women baby care, home products adds also done by women but soft drinks, bike add, paints add etc are dominated by males.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Many dish washing, detergents, fairness cream show female models. As Megan Markle commented on the change in advertisements from women of America are tired of greasy utensils to people of America......

    ReplyDelete
  35. Though an attitudinal change is beginning to show, even today, products related to household goods, kitchen and advertisements dealing with emotions are endorsed by women as opposed to men who endorse cars and expensive gadgets

    ReplyDelete
  37. Most of the advertisement related to cosmetics, bathing soaps are depicted by women. Whereas, advertisement related to cars and other products are done by men. It basically depicting stereotypes and gender biased.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Most of the advertisements in print and non print, they are showcasing that women are the most beautiful in nature. So, they are exceeding their limits. This is also bad nowadays that women are not to be respected and only for beauty. In India, the advertising agencies are telling and making people to believe that women in dark colours are to be neglected and fair are admired by the men. This is totally idiotic idea they want to explore in the minds of the younger generations. This has to be ended by Government Laws.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Advertisers provide messages and leave the meaning upto consumers to develop, they are interested in similarities and differencesin how men and womenreceive and evaluate information.

    ReplyDelete
  40. There is a cery clear bias depicted in the advertisements. Women are primarily used to attract the customers or promote household items. Stereotypes exist in the industry and this shows the industry is not evolving with time

    ReplyDelete
  41. If we compare modern generation advertisement with the primitive years, then there is slight improvement or I would rather say a reformation has just begun. Ads like Fair and Lovely, fair complexion has been pictured with stereotypical concept towards feminine role. Vim dish washer and other such ads are focusing on breaking down gender cliches. Things might change if we continue to raise voice for gender equality. Both feminine and masculine gender will be subject rather than object in the upcoming advertisement.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The advertisements of today have moved much beyond the ones that were carried out 10 years ago. Then it was the norm to show the dieal woman as someone who is a good mother/taking care of house, children, needs of husband & in laws.. If career woman was shown; she was shown as a super woman mangaging both house and office. That trend has shown much needed improvement with more acceptance towards independent woman and trying to break the stereotyping of roles and responsibilities. Ads like Fair & Lovely also came under justified criticism and seem to be fading out of the mainstream media.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Kinder joy is a chocolate product, which is famous among children. In the advertisement for this product, they show a pink kinder joy package for the girl and a blue one for the boy. Moreover, the gifts opened by the girl are generally barbie dolls, rings, kitchen related kits, sewing machines, and others which are considered to be enjoyed by girls only. And for boys, they put gifts like cars, superheroes, airplanes, transformers, and so on.
These ads exploit the idea that colour preferences should be gender-based. If a boy happens to like the colour pink, he will be teased. They try to imply that girls should play with Barbie dolls and kitchen kits because they are supposed to do that in the future, whereas boys are entitled to be free and drive around and are strong and powerful like superheroes.
Advertisements can be one of the best tools for changing society. But instead of giving out the right message most of the ads convey a stereotypical message.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It is not necessarily required that women item is advertised by women only, our popular Bollywood actor Mr Akshayakumar advertising for sanitary pad for women. Actually, in India, discrimination between man and women is taught in the early education in the family so most of the school are failed to promote equality in children based on gender. Not only this, any reason which caused inequality in any child based on gender, caste, economic conditions, colour, etc will enhance this inequality.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Women usually are shown mostly as home makers in products related to cosmetics, clothes, food items etc and not much involving advertisement of cement, steel, cars, tyres, property something showing power

    ReplyDelete
  52. The recent advertisement I have come across is of a Gold jewellery ad. How beautifully it depicts the celebration of a girl child how every phase of her life is celebrated, but somewhere down the line there was a feeling creeping how will the less privileged feel.
As many others I too feel truly why women are portrayed as soft beings who depend upon men for even a bicycle repair or for that matter advertisements many a times are far from reality and can hugely impact the tender minds.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Advertisements are the best mode of transforming the society if positively demonstrated especially regarding women's untouched n neglected issues basically of downtrodden sections of society

    ReplyDelete
  59. The changing roles from stereotype to present day situations are evident in advertisements as well. The latest one is an old famous dairy milk add wherein now a lady batsman makes the century while the male friend dodges the security to enter the field

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes, most of the advertisement are gender biased. Even the women are considered as homemaker and they are not allowed to do work of their own choice by saying this work is not for girls . By time things are changing but not completely may be in future this kind of discrimination can't happen with girls or even for transgender.

    ReplyDelete
  61. now women are more powerful than men

    ReplyDelete
  62. Gender Stereotypes shown through media leaves a lasting effect on the masses. Hence the media should be more aware and research before misleading minds by reinforcing gender stereotypes through advertisements where women who are fair must only get jobs or men who strong and must only endorse sports. The goal should be that all people no matter what they identify themselves as should have the right over the basic human resources. It should be normalized.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Men and women both are participation equally important now . In some cases the content of addvertisement should be maintained our values. Many. addvertisements are very interesting . After watching several times viewer's don't fill bored

    ReplyDelete
  64. Now a days, there is a lot of change in the way of thinking. I have seen an advertisement ( Cadbury dairy milk) in the older version the lady will be dancing when her pair was playing a sport. But, the new version is quite opposite to this. So, we can say that slowly the changes are taking place.

  71. Advertisements shown on TV and in print media actually show the unsaid gender biased expressions and thoughts of society which claims to be gender equal in words but if we see at the subconscious level we can clearly highlight the rigidity of thoughts. EX: Most of the cleaning products are endorsed by females.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Gender discrimination should be discouraged. Some are good where the male member is helping in household work.

    ReplyDelete
  74. New breed of ads are bit more aware but still we can see quite a bit of gender stereotype in ads. Anything product that is soft or pedaling for emotional appeal have women. Anything macho including finance matters like companies offering loan have males or their voice overs.
